"After two years working abroad on gender and development issues, I am back in Canada pursuing higher education in teaching, with the aim of teaching young people about gender equity and the root causes of gender discrimination. 

My recent visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York really brought home for me how my role with UNDP in Colombia has helped contribute to the broader goals of the UN around the globe. Visiting the UN headquarters in New York was an inspiring experience and a strong reminder to continue my work on promoting gender equity and empowering women."
