Vancouver networking

From left: Kevin, preparing to deploy to UNDP Bhutan, Andrée, JPC alumni 2012 UNDP Nepal and Lara Hill, UNA-Canada's Internship Manager.
A visit to the west coast afforded Lara the chance opportunity to provide Kevin with his deployment briefing in person this month. Recently returned from the UNDP in Nepal, Andrée generously joined in the conversation to share first hand insight into how to prepare for the first weeks abroad and how she discovered avenues to maximize a UNPP Placement.

While Andrée was completing her Placement earlier this year, her networking on behalf of the Programme lead to a new partnership with the UNDP in Bhutan. Thanks to her, UNA-Canada will already be sending our second JPC, Kevin, to the UNDP in Bhutan this January!

UNPP participants and staff recognize the value of personal networking and how relationship building can truly foster career growth and new opportunities. On a personal note, these three also happened to discover a shared history, not only did they each spend their formative years growing up on the Canadian prairies, but during different years,  each completed the International Studies Graduate Progamme at Simon Fraser University.
