New Partnership with IOM, Ghana.

UNA-Canada is delighted to have partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ghana in 2014. Ms. Nazreth Libab is our first ever JPC to go to this position and is proving to be an invaluable member of the team there.

As a Project Development Officer, Nazreth is currently working on two concept notes to address: i) Anti-Child Trafficking in the Ghana Mining Sector and ii) Anti-Child Trafficking training for law enforcement officers, prosecutors and judges. She also attends the UN Inter-Agency Programme Group (UN-IPG) meetings, project launch luncheons, project development and project brainstorming meetings. Beyond this she has:
  • Assisted the Operations Department with “Voluntary Return of Liberian Migrants from Ghana to Liberia” project (which has now wrapped up). This included refugee camp visit to complete migrant travel documents and airport assistance for departure back to Liberia.
  • Researched relevant migration and child trafficking publications and preparing briefing notes and summaries for the Chief of Mission.
  • Worked with the communications specialist to update IOM Ghana website and assist with the design and creation of IOM Ghana Facebook page.
At the end of this month she will begin to prepare the Periodic Report for IOM head office in Dakar, and do a field visit in the Volta Region for anti-child trafficking project. Nazreth holds an Honours B.A. in Law & Society from York University and an International Development Post-Graduate Certificate from Humber College.
