UNA-Canada Scotiabank JPC Wrapping Up.

Seble Gameda sent us an update as she winds out her time as one of UNA-Canada's Scotiabank JPCs.

Sustainable and Adapted Territories

Last week I travelled to Colombia’s most South-Western Department, Nariño, as part of UNDP Colombia’s technical and institutional support team for the Municipality of Pasto’s Project Sustainable and Adapted Territories.

As a JPC with UNDP Colombia’s Environment and Energy Unit, we led technical workshops and socialization forums with our local partners in climate change vulnerability, adaption and early warning systems, to key indigenous and farming communities as well as institutions within the region of the Corregimiento de El Encano and the Municipality of Pasto.

In addition to the climate change focus, the Municipality of Pasto has identified the need for ecological restoration and conservation, as well as sustainable eco-production, which will be implemented by local partners in the region. Sustainable and Adapted Territories aims to reduce the environmental vulnerability of communities, conserve areas which provide key water resources, increase the resilience of strategic ecosystems and facilitate sustainable production.
